Up The Stairs Community Center 514 E Washington Blvd Ft Wayne IN 46802 Mission: Up The Stairs Community Center serves as a meeting place and safe haven for the GLBT community in and around Fort Wayne, Indiana. The center is open to any non-profit GLBT-supportive groups for their activities. In addition, there are center-sponsored activities, projects and events designed to meet the needs of the GLBT community not being met by other individuals and organizations. A self-appointing board oversees the center. Click on the items on the blue menu to the left for more information on specific activities. UTSCC history timeline: 1982 -- UTSCC opens in August in it's second floor location at 305 West Jefferson above Rainbows of Life Bookstore. Gay/Lesbian Organization (GLO) and Open Door Chapel are it's first tenants. Organizations Later, the Gay/Lesbian Helpline and the Gay/Lesbian Archives/Resource Center set up at the center. 1985 -- UTSCC moves to temporary quarters in the Chapel Lounge of First Presbyterian Church on October 1st. 1986-- UTSCC moves to it's 3426 Broadway location on June 1st. 1997-- UTSCC's Horizons Youth Group established; Rainbow Reader's first issue published in June. 1998 -- UTSCC Archives and Resource Library formally opens on April 19th with material donated from the earlier Archives/Resource Center; Bisexual Discussion Group started; first Pride Festival held at Freimann Square. 1999-- Board membership positions increased to up to 15; Social Action Committee started. 2002-- UTSCC takes possession of 514 E. Washington Boulevard on February 8th and moves in July 13th.
