About the Center Mission: Up The Stairs Community Center serves as a meeting place and safe haven for the GLBT community in and around Fort Wayne, Indiana. The center is open to any non-profit GLBT-supportive groups for their activities. In addition, there are center-sponsored activities, projects and events designed to meet the needs of the GLBT community not being met by other individuals and organizations. A self-appointing board oversees the center. Click on the items on the blue menu to the left for more information on specific activities. UTSCC history timeline: 1982 -- UTSCC opens in August in it's second floor location at 305 West Jefferson above Rainbows of Life Bookstore. Gay/Lesbian Organization (GLO) and Open Door Chapel are it's first tenants. Organizations Later, the Gay/Lesbian Helpline and the Gay/Lesbian Archives/Resource Center set up at the center. |
